Community Resilience and Environmental Justice (CREJ) Fund
The Community Resilience and Environmental Justice (CREJ) Fund resources community-based organizations with grants, capacity-building services, educational programming, and networking opportunities.
The primary goal of the CREJ Fund is to change the systems and built environment conditions affecting environmental justice communities and increase frontline community resilience to climate change.
Organizations are awarded two-year $30,000 grants across the following tracks:
- Circularity and Waste Reduction
- Climate Emergency Preparedness
- Energy Burden and Heat Resilience
- Food Sovereignty and Land Security
- Indoor Air Quality
CREJ recipients also have access to a suite of wraparound capacity-building services to support long-term organizational sustainability and development. These include strategic planning, project planning, team coaching, conflict mediation, grant writing, media development, communications outreach and more.
Current and past grantees are invited to attend an annual CREJ Convening to celebrate accomplishments and share resources, experiences and lessons learned. This event facilitates relationship-building across organizations doing similar work and reduces silos driven by geography or organization type.
The Office of Sustainability works with a resident committee that reviews CREJ Fund applications and recommends finalists.
